South London singer-songwriter Charlene Braithwaite has just released her debut single, “Here’s The Chance”, and it sees her connect with seasoned singer and Grammy award-winning musician Jermaine Holmes.

Charlene may be a newcomer to releasing music, but she has a storied career in the music game, having worked with D’Angelo’s The Vanguard and now working with the lead singer for Pete Rock & The Soul Brothers.

Charlene’s inspirations and writing style can be traced all the way back to her childhood, when the family home would be filled by the sounds of lover’s rock, rare grooves and country music while the Sunday dinner was being prepared. That familial warmth and the emphasis on the kind of songwriting that reaches across generations is a big part of “Here’s The Chance”. The song is warm and gentle, but its message is the kind to get you out your seat.

Speaking on the track’s origins, Charlene told Complex: “Jermaine has been sending me ideas and instrumentals for over 10 years and would just trust me to do my thing, ultimately nurturing my confidence in exploring my creativity. When he shared this particular track with me, I instantly started singing whatever came to mind and sent it back to Jermaine, who added his own vibe to it. This is an old track for us, but we’ve finally released it as my first single, and the message of this song is simple: seize the opportunity to embrace love when it comes your way!”
